We currently offer the following Degree Qualifications:
BA in Business Enterprise
In association with the Learning Curve Red Lemon are working in partnership to deliver a pathway that allows you to build on your ILM qualification to gain a degree in Business and enterprise in just one year. The degree is delivered by Edinburgh Napier University and is a new and innovative way to achieving a degree. The stuty pattern is based on 1 day per month at a location in the North West with on line support. Students are able to enter at 3 points in the year, Febraury, June and September. The overrall programme will provide:
- Work based learning, linked to organsisational as well as personal objectives, designed to help you deliver business and personal results
- Learning and activities designed to help enhance the businesses in which we are working
- Development of enterprising people able to take forward the challenges of modern businesses or organisation
The programme structure is very flexible and is built around the following modules:
• Innovation, Creativity and Enterprise (20 credits)
• Business Growth Issues (20 credits)
• Business Processes (20 credits)
• A workplace-based learning project (60 credits)
The one day per month at university is supported with on-line materials, and additional workshops for workplace based learning. This approach
will minimise off-job time. The aim of BA Business & Enterprise is to develop you and enhance your career opportunities. Assessments are therefore practical and applied, including reports around work roles, workplace-based assignments, presentations and case studies on the work completed. BA Business & Enterprise has no traditional exams. On graduating, you will be well placed to address business and organisational
issues, work in innovative creative ways and achieve results for you, your career
and your organisation.

We currently offer the following National Vocational Qualifications:
Team Leading Level 2
The ILM Level 2 S/NVQ in Team Leading has been specifically designed for team leaders (with some authority for managing resources) who are looking to motivate their team members as well as achieve agreed outputs. The qualification aims to give participants an opportunity to develop the core competences needed by today’s team leaders.
Participants take four mandatory units (which look at managing resources, health and safety, developing working relationships and leadership) plus two optional units. The wide choice of optional units gives a high level of flexibility, allowing the qualification to be tailored to meet the varying needs of participants and employers across all employment sectors.
There are no fixed periods for completing an ILM S/NVQ however most participants take between six months and one year. Assessment of all Team Leading S/NVQs is through submission of evidence, normally a portfolio and/or professional discussion, to demonstrate that the requirements are met at the relevant standard.
There are no formal educational requirements but participants will undertake an initial assessment to determine the appropriate S/NVQ Level and optional units. Participants should normally be employed in a team leading role; those who are not currently in employment may be able to join the qualification if they are able to gather evidence of recent team leading experience in a paid or voluntary capacity
Management Level 3
The ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management Skills has been designed to develop the leadership and management skills of practicing or aspiring first line managers. It is a concise qualification consisting of three mandatory units. Candidates are taken through problem solving and decision making techniques in the first unit, explore leadership styles in the second unit, and finally in the third unit of this qualification candidates look at motivating and developing teams.
Depending on the units selected, a choice of: work-based assignments, reflective reviews, knowledge reviews; oral presentations, role-play/scenarios, written reports or centre-devised alternatives.
There are no formal entry requirements but participants will normally be either practising or aspiring first line managers with opportunity to meet the assessment demands and have a background that will enable them to benefit from the programme.
Management Level 4
The ILM Level 4 S/NVQ in Management has been specially designed for middle managers with a wide span of control and accountability for performance, who are responsible for determining resource allocation and operational methods. Candidates will be able to attend planned meetings with their assessor. The course can also be tailored to individual or group needs.
Participants complete a total of eight units - five mandatory and three optional. The mandatory units cover:
- Develop and implement operational plans for your area of responsibility
- Encourage innovation in your area of responsibility
- Develop productive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
- Ensure health and safety requirements are met in your area of responsibility
- Manage business process
The wide range of optional units, from recruitment to change management, ensures a high level of flexibility to meet the needs of participants and employers across all employment sectors. Follow the link below to see the list of optional units.
Assessment of all Management S/NVQs is through submission of evidence, normally a portfolio based on observations, professional discussions, written statements, product evidence, witness testimonies and case studies. Candidates are required to produce a portfolio showing a variety of evidences. Candidates are usually expected to complete the course within 6 to 12 months.
Candidates who successfully prove competence in the standards for this course can expect to move to senior management positions.
There are no formal educational requirements but participants will undertake an initial assessment to determine the appropriate S/NVQ Level and optional units. Participants should be employed in a middle management role; those who are not currently in employment may be able to join the qualification if they are able to gather evidence of recent middle management experience in a paid or voluntary capacity.

Management Level 5
The ILM Level 5 S/NVQ in Management has been specially designed for senior managers with a high degree of autonomy for deploying resources and achieving strategic goals. The qualification aims to give participants an opportunity to develop their professional management skills, knowledge and understanding.
Candidates will be able to attend planned meetings with their assessor. The course can also be tailored to individual or group needs.
Participants take four mandatory units (which look at organisational leadership, health and safety, innovation and performance) plus three optional units. The wide choice of optional units gives a high level of flexibility, allowing the qualification to be tailored to meet the varying needs of participants and employers across all employment sectors.

Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (previously Teaching Assistants), Levels 2 & 3
Candidates will be able to attend planned meetings with their assessor. The course can also be tailored to individual or group needs. All candidates will receive tutorial support from a dedicated assessor as part of the qualification programme. Assessment will be by work based observations, professional discussions, written statements, product evidence, witness testimonies and case studies. Candidates are required to produce a portfolio showing a variety of evidences. Candidates are usually expected to complete the course within 12 months.
The Supporting and teaching and learning qualification is a nationally recongnised and accrediated by EDXCEL. It replaces the teaching assistant qualification in light of the current workforce reform.
In the Level 2 there are 7 units which are assessed in a variety of ways whilst the Level 3 has 10 units.
Candidates should be employed in a role which allows them to work with young people in any school setting. They are usually new to the role or working voluntary. Red Lemon will negotiate, on an individual basis, an agreed the level of entry. Possible professional roles that can access this qualification are: Teaching Assistant, Special Needs Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Classroom Assistant and Care Support Assistant

Learning Development and Support Services for Children, Young People and those who care for them Level 3
The Learning Development Support Services Level 3 NVQ is suitable for candidates whose work includes clear guidelines in the practice of supporting children and young people. Candidates should be working in designated advice and / or guidance organisations or in Education Welfare or Learning Mentor roles. There role should provide information that is often interpreted by others and they work daily with children, young people and those who care for them
It is a nationally recognised qualification accredited by EDEXCEL.
To achieve the full award, candidates must complete nine units, including five core mandatory units, two optional units and two specialist pathway units. The specialist pathway units have been developed to allow candidates to demonstrate competence in specialist areas, which relate directly to their role.
The options are: supporting young people, education welfare and learning mentor
Candidates will be able to attend planned meetings with their assessor. The course can also be tailored to individual or group needs. All candidates will receive tutorial support from a dedicated assessor as part of the qualification program. Assessment will be by work based observations, professional discussions, written statements, product evidence, witness testimonies and case studies. Candidates are required to produce a portfolio showing a variety of evidences. Candidates are usually expected to complete the course within 12 months.
Candidates enrolling on Level 3 LDSS should be employed in a role which allows them to assess young people’s needs, support them through change, liaise with other agencies on their behalf and review progress. Although candidates do not require Level 2 to begin Level 3 they will be required to demonstrate level 2 ability.

Learning Development and Support Services for Children, Young People and those who care for them Level 4
This mid-level qualification is aimed at those working to deliver in-depth advice, support and guidance to children and young people. It forms part of the National Framework for Personal Advisors, Learning Mentors and Education Welfare Support and is especially relevant to Surestart and Connexions staffl. As well as Learning Mentors and those involved in multi-agency in schools. The candidates are able to enhance their practitioner skills to help them show competence across a wide range of activities and interactions with children, young people and those who care for them.
Candidates will be able to attend planned meetings with their assessor. The course can also be tailored to individual or group needs. All candidates will receive tutorial support from a dedicated assessor as part of the qualification program. Assessment will be by work based observations, professional discussions, written statements, product evidence, witness testimonies and case studies. Candidates are required to produce a portfolio showing a variety of evidences. Candidates are usually expected to complete the course within 12 months
- It is a nationally recognised qualification accredited by EDEXCEL.
- Candidates are required to cover a total of 11 units. 6 are mandatory these include:-
- Evaluate risk of abuse, failure to protect from harm to self and others.
- Ensure personal safety and security.
- Evaluate and develop own contribution to the service.
- Develop interactions with clients.
- Develop and sustain arrangements for joint working between workers and agencies.
- Promote and maximise educational opportunities and achievements for individual children and young people.
Candidates should be employed in a role which allows them to assess young people’s needs, support them through change, liaise with other agencies on their behalf and review progress. Although candidates do not require Level 3 LDSS to begin Level 4 they will be required to demonstrate level 3 ability.
