National Vocational Qualifications training courses
Teaching Assistant, Levels 2 & 3
Aims of these NVQs:
- A nationally recognised qualification designed to increase the knowledge, understanding and expertise of a teaching / classroom assistant or for a person employed within a support role for a specific child, year group or subject area within a school setting
- Provides the structure for these ‘teacher supporting’ professionals to gain a qualification relevant to their individual role within their workplace and working practice.
Contents of these NVQs:
- These NVQs explore in detail the National Occupational Standards that underpin the role of the teaching / classroom assistant as developed by the Local Government (the National Training Organisation) for this professional sector.
- Example areas addressed are: behaviour management, record keeping, learning support strategies, specific curricular based support strategies / initiatives / agendas working towards the ECM agenda, monitoring, evaluating and reviewing practice, etc.
- It will provide the candidate with a firmer practical understanding of the National Occupational Standards relevant to their particular professional role and an arena to explore areas for potential improvement and strategies to accomplish this.
- Current standard relevant information and training will also be provided.
Potential candidate criteria:
- It provides a common career pathway for all teaching assistant / support staff within a school setting in accordance with the National Qualification Framework
- It ensures that all employers and their employees will adhere to the Government / DFES guidance that by 2010 all support staff within an educational setting will have a qualification at least of an NVQ level 2
This NVQ is offered at 2 levels - Level 2 and Level 3.
- Red Lemon will negotiate, on an individual basis, an agreed the level of entry
- Possible professional roles that can access this qualification are:
- Teaching Assistant
- Special Needs Assistant
- Learning Support Assistant
- Classroom Assistant
- Care Support Assistant (for an individual child in school)
- Professionals will need to be employed within a Primary, Secondary or Special School setting
- Red Lemon are keen to ensure that the chosen training solution for each candidate will ensure their continuing, relevant professional development and not just confirm what they already know.
Delivery Format:
- Red Lemon will deliver their training and assessment solutions in the most subject appropriate manner
- Red Lemon will ensure that each training solution will be tailor made to meet specific individual requirements.
Accreditation:
- Each candidate who successfully completes the entire mandatory, pathway specific and the compulsory number of optional required units will be awarded an EDEXCEL accredited certificate in NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistant.
- Each candidate will also receive a certificate for each individual unit they have successfully proven competency in.
Learning Development and Support Services for Children, Young People and those who care for them Levels 3 & 4
Aims of these NVQs:
- A nationally recognised qualification designed to increase the knowledge, understanding and expertise of a professional within the Learning Development Support Services Family as outlined within the Children’s Workforce Development Council footprint.
- Provides the structure for these professionals to gain a qualification relevant to their individual role within their workplace and working practice.
Contents of these NVQs:
- These NVQs explore in detail the 61 National Occupational Standards that underpin all of the LDSS roles.
- Example areas addressed are: working within the ECM agenda, safeguarding, case study identification and strategy management, monitoring, evaluating and reviewing practice, multi agency working and its dynamics etc.
- It will provide the candidate with a firmer practical understanding of the National Occupational Standards relevant to their particular professional role and an arena to explore areas for potential improvement and strategies to accomplish this.
- Current standard relevant information and training will also be provided.

- It provides a common career pathway for employers and their employees within the Learning Development Support Services footprint :
- Connexions
- Education Welfare Service
- Learning Mentors
- Attendance Managers
- Behaviour Support Workers
- Voluntary Sector Providers etc
This NVQ is offered at 2 levels - Level 3 and Level 4.
- Level 3 is usually for those candidates who are new to the LDSS profession.
- Level 4 is suited for more experienced LDSS practitioners .However the level of entry for each candidate will be part of the induction process.

- Red Lemon will deliver their training and assessment solutions in the most subject appropriate manner
- Red Lemon will ensure that each training solution will be tailor made to meet specific individual requirements.
Accreditation:
