Leadership and Management Short Courses
redlemon offer delivery of bespoke short training courses which are accrediated through ILM such as, Establisihing and maintaining positive and effective behaviour management and the Managing ICT. In addition to these redlemon in partnership with David Taylor Associates offers two Leadership and Management short courses, Leadership self mastery and Team building for leaders.
Establisihing and maintaining positive and effective behaviour management
This one day course will provide attendees with an overview in ways in which we identify and deal with disruptive behaviour in the classroom. It will look at techniques employed by both teachers and students to undermine the learning environment and will consider professional ways in dealing with these issues. The course will also look at the essential elements of classroom management necessary to ensure an effective learning environment.
The course comprises of a mixture of delivery sessions, with tutor led presentations, group exercises and practical case studies. Content will include:
- Describe the characteristics of behaviour management;
- Identify causes of disruptive behaviour;
- Identify strategies to decrease disruptive behaviour; and
- Identify strategies to respond to disruptive behaviour.
Active facilitation throughout the course provides expert interaction, guidance and feedback for all participants. Assignments and questions which call for critical reflection, self-analysis and a reasoned response punctuate this highly interactive course. On completion of the course the participant will be presented with their own certificate of course particiation by the course facilitator to keep as their CPD record.Through engagement with the course content and through the sharing of successful strategies for effective behaviour management in the classroom, we anticipate that the knowledge and insights gained by participants will positively impact on classroom teaching as well as the school ethos.
Manging ICT
Participants will learn how to manage interactive whiteboard functions, the various whiteboard options available and its potential to revolutionise the workplace in particualr for people who manage and interact with staff and ICT on a regular basis.
Participants will have an opportunity to engage with exciting dynamic interactive whiteboard content in order to appreciate the potential of this powerful technology to enliven and enhance workplace activities and training it will enable them to use it as a tool to hold internal and external stakeholder meetings, deliver in-house training and conduct presentations.

Equality and Diversity for Sport
Understanding and applying the practlcal elements of equality into projects and programmes is an essential focus of this course. This one day course will provide attendees with an overview of equality of diversity and how to apply this wthin the work that they undetake. It will also assist those people who are intertested in completing the National Occupation Standard D210.
The course is designed to:
- Understand the legal requirements, terminology and language relevant to equality
- Identifing and engaging target groups using a variety of methods
- Developing Partnerships
- Best Practice case studies.
The course comprises of a mixture of delivery sessions, with tutor led presentations, group exercises and practical case studies. Content will include:
- Understand the legal requirements surrounding equality and diversity
- Understanding terminology and appropriate use of language
- Recognising poor practice and behaviour

- The importance of consultation and your role within it
Event Management for Sport
Event management is the ability to combine a wide range of skills such as planning, resource management, teamwork and delegation to produce a specific result. An effective manager must have a wide range of skills, including planning, teamwork, resource management, and delegation. The Event Management course is delivered over a day course and provides an insight into event management. The course is designed to:
- Make effective choices as to when, and when not, a event management approach is needed
- Understand the terms and processes currently used in events and projects.
- Deliver events more effectively.
The course comprises of a mixture of delivery sessions, with tutor led presentations, group exercises and practical case studies.
Finding the Funds
Gaining an understanding of the various public and private funding bodies and applying these to projects or progarmmes. This one day course will provide attendees with an overview of the various funding streams available and how these can relate to sport in terms of shared outputs. It will give candidates practical examples of how to prepare and present funding applications.
The course is designed to:
- Understand the various funding bodies be they public or private and there associated, terminology and language
- Identify a menu of funding options based upon delveriability, criteria and success
- Identfying relevant funding pots and matching their criteria and outcomes to those of the project
- Best Practice case studies.
The course comprises of a mixture of delivery sessions, with tutor led presentations, group exercises and practical case studies.
Sports Development and Planning
This is an elective module. This module examines the philosophies, rationales, models and practices of sports development,and explores in detail the practical management of the sports development process in a variety of contrasting settings. The Sports Development and Planning is contained in one a day course and provides an insight into sports development. The course is designed to:
- Sports development and sports policy - definitions of sports development; history of UK sports development programmes; philosophies and rationales of sports development; agencies and organisations undertaking sports development, roles of public, voluntary and commercial sectors.
- Conceptual framework - models of sports development, sports development continuum, marketing and consumer behaviour models, social and community action approaches, and bases for segmentation or targeting.
- Management issues - design of sports development programmes, policy rationales and management objectives, management of the political environment; management of outreach and field work, performance measurement and evaluation.
- Comparative framework - experience of sports development initiatives in selected countries.
- Analysis of sports development practice - integration of above through analysis of specific sports development initiatives and programmes.
The Course comprises of a mixture of delivery sessions, with tutor led presentations, group exercises and practical case studies.
